Church websites

Website design & development.

Your church is doing ministry. Your website should help people find you, understand who you are, and take their next step.

Who it's for

Your church gets a minute to make a first impression.

Before a family ever pulls into your parking lot, they are going to look you up online. In less than a minute, they decide whether your church feels like a place for them. If your site is outdated, hard to use on a phone, or missing service times, many of them won't come. And if they can't find a website at all, many won't take the chance.

You don't need a megachurch budget to make that minute count. You need a clear, welcoming website built by someone who understands your church.

60

seconds

Under a minute.

That's how long most visitors take to decide whether to visit you based on your website.

Who's deciding

Someone new to town

A parent checking for kids' programs

An adult child finding a church for their parents

Why your church needs a website

Your sign reaches one street.

Church sign

A sign reaches the people who drive past it. That's a great start, but it's one street.

Word of mouth

Invitations are still the best way people come to church. They reach as far as your members' friendships.

Website

A website reaches anyone in your town who's looking, including the people your members haven't met yet.

From the pastor's chair

I've seen it from your side of the pulpit.

How they found us

"When I was pastoring, I'd ask first-time guests how they heard about us. Almost every single one said they looked us up online before they ever came."

What I learned: Your website is a guest's first visit. Make it a good one.

Easter Sunday

"Every Easter we'd see new faces, and some of them had found us the night before. They'd searched for Easter services and picked the church that made it easy."

What I learned: On the days people are most open to church, they're looking online.

Event sign-ups

"For years, event sign-ups meant a clipboard in the hallway. When we moved it online, more families signed up, including some who weren't members."

What I learned: A website takes care of the busywork so your people can focus on ministry.

Every size church

Every church needs a good website. Whatever its size.

Whether 40 people or 400 gather on a Sunday, guests look you up online first. Tap the one that sounds like your church.

We're a small church.

Small churches have the most to gain.

Many families are looking for a close-knit church where people know their name. They can't choose you if they can't find you. You don't need a large, complex site. Even a small, simple online presence can make a difference in who walks through your doors.

We're a growing church.

Growth brings more first-time guests.

More new faces means more questions about service times, kids, and parking. A good website answers them before Sunday, so your team doesn't have to.

We're an established church.

Your reputation still has to be found.

Longtime members know your story. New families in town only know what they see online, and an outdated site tells the wrong one.

We don't have the budget.

We have a package for every church size.

Your website works seven days a week, greeting guests and answering questions long after the office closes.

Whatever your size, your website is your church's front door. Make it a welcoming one.

The essentials

What every website includes.

Clear and Simple Design

Simple doesn't mean boring. Service times, address, and what to expect on a first visit are easy to find.

Custom Built Pages

No templates or cookie cutter designs. Built around your church's DNA and needs.

Room to Breathe

Fewer things on each page, with space around them. A page that tries to say everything ends up saying nothing.

Help With Your Content

We help shape the writing so it reads like your church talking, not a brochure.

A Shot List for Your Photos

Built around your actual ministries and pages, so nobody is guessing on the day.

A Partner in Ministry

We work alongside you, thinking through your church's communication with you.

The process

A simple process, built around your church.

A Conversation

We listen to your church's story, goals, and needs.

We start with your church, not our opinion. We'll talk about what's frustrating you now, who you're trying to reach, and what you want people to understand when they visit your site. Then we'll put together a clear, simple roadmap designed specifically for your church.

Shape the Message

We map the pages and gather content together.

Before we build, we organize your website around what people actually need to know. We map out the pages, decide what each one needs to accomplish, and help you gather the content, photos, and information to tell your church's story. If you need help writing or choosing images, we'll work through it with you.

Build Together

You see the site take shape and give feedback.

Rather than disappearing for weeks and showing you a finished product, we give you chances to review the site along the way and tell us what's working and what needs to change, so the finished website feels like your church.

Launch & Care

We launch, then keep it healthy with the Care Plan.

We launch your website and make sure everything works the way it should. After launch, the monthly Trellis Care Plan covers hosting, security, backups, monitoring, support, and one hour of website updates each month. You own your domain and content.

What does a website actually cost?

Professional design without agency overhead.

Free website builders

  • Ads on your site
  • Someone else's name in your web address
  • Limited design and features
  • A volunteer spending hours figuring it out

Most agencies

  • Often $10,000 to $20,000
  • Layers of overhead
  • Built for businesses, not churches
  • Professional design

We have packages for all church sizes and budgets.

Every church is different, so we'll talk through your needs before giving you a proposal. Every website also includes a Trellis Care Plan for ongoing hosting, security, backups, updates, and support after launch.

Care Plan pricing varies based on the size and complexity of your website and the level of support it requires, so your proposal will include the Care Plan that best fits your site.

Trellis Care Plan

Your website stays healthy after launch.

You own your domain and website content. We keep it secure, backed up and up to date.

Hosting

Fast, reliable hosting so your site is up whenever someone looks for you.

Security

Software updates, SSL, and protection against attacks and spam.

Backups

Regular backups, so nothing is lost if something goes wrong.

Monitoring

We watch uptime and speed and fix problems before you notice them.

A real person to call or email when you have a question.

Do we really need a website?

If someone moves into your area on a Tuesday and wants to visit a church that Sunday, they will look online first. If nothing comes up, or what comes up is a phone number and an outdated service time, they move on. A site doesn't have to be elaborate. It has to tell the truth about who you are, clearly, in one place you control.

Will it be hard to update?

Nope! Updating a service time or adding an event should take a couple of minutes. We train whoever will be doing it, staff or volunteer, and leave written instructions for your specific site. We're also available after launch for ongoing support.

What if we don't know what we need?

That's the most common place people start. We'll ask what's frustrating you now and what you wish people knew about your church, and the answer usually becomes clear. Sometimes the outcome is that you don't need what you thought you did. We'll say so.

How long will it take?

A straightforward site is usually four to six weeks from first conversation to launch. Most of that time is gathering content. The work moves at whatever pace your team can review it. We'd rather it be right than fast.

We already have a website. Can you work with it?

Absolutely. We'll look at what you have and help you decide whether it needs updates or a fresh start, before recommending anything.

Who provides the content?

Usually you, because you know your church. We'll tell you what each page needs and give you a starting outline. If writing isn't something anyone has time for, we can help shape what you give us.

How much does it cost?

Every church is different, so let's talk through your needs first. Then you'll get a clear proposal, including the Care Plan that fits your site.

Do you only work with churches?

Churches are what we know best and where we spend most of our time. We do take on other small organizations. If you're not sure whether you're a fit, reach out and ask.
